"Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition FUKUOKA" (held at JR Kyushu Hall (JR Hakata City 9F) (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture) from 28 Jun 2025 (Sat) to 17 Aug 2025 (Sun)), with the cooperation of the Fukuoka kimono rental company Mayu no Kai and Fukuoka Castle ‘Mayu no Yakata’, is organising two kimono experience projects: "Easy-to-Wear Kimono Jacket‘ and ’Kimono Style Experience". The ‘Casually Woven Kimono Jacket’ is a rental experience project of a light kimono jacket that can be worn only at the venue, and can be experienced for 500 yen per person (tax included) from Saturday 28 June to Friday 11 July 2025.

The Kimono Style Experience is a kimono rental experience programme that offers a casual taste of Japanese dress in a separate type of kimono that can be easily worn over Western clothes. The experience is available for 500 yen for elementary school students, 1,500 yen for adult women and 2,000 yen for adult men (all inclusive of tax).

In addition, during the exhibition period, a special campaign will be held for visitors dressed in kimono, furisode, yukata, jinbei or other Japanese clothing, offering a 100 yen discount on the entrance fee. "Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition FUKUOKA" two kimono experience projects, ’Kimono Jacket You Can Wear Casually‘ and ’Japanese Dress Style Experience", will be held for a limited time only.

About the “Casual Kimono Jacket” Kimono Rental Experience Project

Kimono jackets, which can be lightly woven over the body, are available for rental exclusively at the exhibition venue.

Visitors can take photos in the style of people depicted in ukiyo-e prints, stroll around the art space and enjoy the ‘Edo chic’ in a casual way.

The kimono jackets available for rent are designed with a modern twist, but with patterns and textures that shine with Japanese beauty.

Enjoy a moment when you can be someone different from your usual self.

In the three-day limited “kimono style experience”, visitors can enjoy a casual kimono rental experience, wearing a separate type of kimono that can be easily woven over Western clothes.In addition to a choice of gorgeous patterns, men's and children's kimonos are also available.

*We can accept clothes before they are worn, but we cannot be held responsible for damage or stains.
