AQUA ALIVE MUSEUM

We will be holding a collaborative event at the AQUA ALIVE MUSEUM, located in the same building as the NTT Cred Hall—the venue for the “Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition HIROSHIMA”. Inside the aquarium, we will feature an immersive spatial experience that includes original exclusive videos, alongside an exhibition of actual ukiyoe —such as Utagawa Hiroshige’s “A Collection of Fish: Kanagashira, Leaf Flounder, and Bamboo” and Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s “A Collection of Goldfish” (reprint edition)—both printed during the Edo period, as well as explanatory panels detailing the “marine creatures” depicted in these works. We invite you to enjoy this collaboration with the “Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition HIROSHIMA” at the AQUA ALIVE MUSEUM, whose theme is “The Stage of Life.”

WELCOME - Ukiyo-e in “Indigo Blue” That Stretches Endlessly

In this space, ukiyo-e prints—including Katsushika Hokusai’s *The Great Wave off Kanagawa*—that depict beautiful shades of indigo extend endlessly across the ceiling, floor, and walls through mirror reflections. Please enjoy this immersive experience, where you can fully immerse yourself in an overwhelming sense of scale that makes the waves seem to surge toward you in three dimensions.

CORAL - A ukiyo-e world brimming with the atmosphere of Edo and teeming with life

In this space, ukiyo-e depictions of bustling Edo-era streams and cityscapes, as well as portraits of beautiful women by the sea and images of fish, come to life on the walls and floors. We present a diverse “stage of life” where living creatures, nature, and culture converge. We invite you to enjoy this “space where the sea and culture merge,” where you can immerse yourself in the world of ukiyo-e.

“Reikōka,” a red cocktail

A cocktail inspired by the “bijin-ga” (portraits of beautiful women) that were popular during the mid-Edo period. This deep crimson drink, made with cranberry and plum wine, is served in a champagne glass with delicate lines to evoke traditional Japanese beauty. Cherries and young pine shoots are tied together with a bamboo skewer to resemble a hairpin, and gold leaf is added to the arrangement to enhance its elegance. This cocktail offers a sweet and tangy flavor.

“Ranpeki,” a Japan blue cocktail

A cocktail inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji: The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” The waves are depicted using a snow-style design on the outside of the glass, evoking the indigo hue of “Japan Blue.” Made with sake from Hiroshima Prefecture as the base and blended with lychee liqueur, grapefruit, and pineapple, this drink offers a gentle sweetness and refreshing flavor.
